Supervision

What is it?

In essence clinical supervision is education and restoration for you as Counsellor and protection for your client. It is an opportunity to discuss and reflect creatively upon your client work with an experienced and qualified counsellor/supervisor.

Who is it for?

If you are a counsellor (therapist) or a student of counselling (therapy) then it is recognised as good practice to receive supervision. Indeed it is a requirement of training courses and to achieve and maintain accreditation with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

In addition we provide non-managerial supervision for individuals using counselling skills in addition to their primary role (e.g. social workers, support workers, nurses, HR employees etc)

How often will we meet?

Usually counsellors receive 1.5 hours supervision per month, but this varies in relation to their work load and experience. Students of counselling similarly will have varying frequency of meetings. Non managerial supervision tends to be of 1hours duration. This is something you will discuss, explore and negotiate at the initial session with your supervisor.

How much does it cost?

  • Trained counsellors and those working towards or maintaining accreditation will be charged £35 per hour
  • Non managerial supervision is £35 per hour (rates for charitable organisations available on request)
  • A student rate of £25 per hour is offered for those in training.
